The annual "Heart Ball" to benefit the Southern New England Chapter of the American Heart Association, was a big success this year. The dinner and auction at the Marble House in Newport on Saturday night raised over $100,000 for research and treatment for those with congenital heart defects, especially children.

ABC6 Meteorologist Steve Cascione was the master of ceremonies and auctioneer.

The event also honored Nick Kelling, a 16 year old student at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick. He has had heart surgery and hopes to be a heart doctor one day.

ABC6 was a media sponsor for the event.
