A Pawtucket father is due in court Friday in connection to the death of his 10-year-old daughter. Jorge DePina, 32, was taken into custody Yesterday evening, after police found bruises and burn marks on the Aleida DePina's body.
The little girl was rushed to Miriam Hospital Wednesday night by her father, but was later was pronounced dead. As of now, DePina is being charged with first degree child abuse and cruelty. DePina could face additional charges after an autopsy.
A green van was towed from in front of the hospital and is now part of the investigation.
A makeshift memorial has popped up in front of the girls home on Knowles St. in Pawtucket. A baby doll and candles are displayed.
The arraignment is expected to happen around 2 PM in Providence District Court. He requires a Creole interpreter.
