At least a dozen people are out of a home after fire breaks out for the second time in a week at a providence apartment building.

Crews were called at around seven o'clock to the home on the corner of Bankroft and Magnolia Street as flames shot through the roof of a third-floor apartment.

"I'm a young mom and now everything I own is gone," said Ashley Flynn as she watched firefighters douse the flames of her apartment. The fire caused a total loss to her apartment, and severe smoke and water damage to the three other apartments below.

Flynn says firefighters were called to her kitchen for a smaller blaze on July 1st because of an electrical issue in a built-in kitchen lamp. The damage was minor, and the building's landlord tells ABC6 he hired a licensed electrician to come fix the problem.

However, Flynn fears Tuesday's fire may have been caused by shoddy workmanship on that repair. A building inspector tells ABC6 that firefighters believe the blaze was caused by a light fixture.

Thirteen people were evacuated from the building safely and the Red Cross is assisting those who need temporary shelter.
