Boston Celtics forward Jarad Sullinger has been arrested for a domestic violence incident over the weekend.
Police say they were called to the home of Sullinger and his girlfriend, identified as Deann Smith, early in the evening Saturday. Prosecutors allege that Sullinger pushed her twice during an argument, grabbed the phone from her and prevented her from leaving the residence.
According to court documents the argument allegedly began when Smith claimed to find signs of infidelity on Sullinger's phone. Smith then began packing her things to leave.
On Tuesday morning shortly after 6 a.m. the Celtic's star turned himself in to Waltham Police.
Sullinger, 21,was charged with assault and battery, malicious destruction of property, and witness intimidation Tuesday morning in Waltham District Court. Sullinger pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on $5,000 bail.
Smith told a judge she did not fear Sullinger and is not seeking a restraining order however the judge imposed an order saying the two can only be in contact by telephone or in the presence of a third party.
