Officials responded to the Landmark Medical center Friday afternoon for an incident in the emergency room.
During the response pepper spray was used on an individual and unfortunately it spread and pulled into the emergency room's ventilation system, and because of it the emergency room was shutdown. Ambulances were diverted to local hospitals as a precaution.
One person was minimally impacted by the pepper spray; the fire departments came in with fans to vent it out. After a few hours officials gave the hospital the go ahead to reopen the emergency room.
