If you drive a Suzuki, you may be hearing from the manufacturer soon.
The company is recalling 193,936 vehicles - the Grand Vitara model years 2006 through 2011 and the SX4 model years 2007 through 2011.
The recall is for a defective air bag sensor in the front passenger seat. Those mats are designed to measure passengers' weight and signal the air bag to deploy, if that passenger is heavy enough. This is important because an air bag can injure children or small adults who are not of a certain size.
After repeated "flexing", the company says, the mats may stop working and the air bag will deploy no matter the weight of the passenger. There are no reported accidents or injuries due to the problem as of yet.
Suzuki will notify owners within the next month; if yours is an affected vehicle, your dealer will replace the mat for free.
