A man's body was found by firefighters inside a vacant burning building in providence. firefighters were called to A boarded–up house on Waverly Street around 5:30 this morning. When they arrived, firefighters had to battle heavy flames coming from the front of the house.

After getting the fire under control, crews went inside and found a man in his late 20's or early 30's, dead on the second floor.

Providence firefighter Daniel Jay Crowley says, "He didn't have any burns on his body, I believe he died as the result of smoke and super heated gasses from the fire."

Neighbors say that the house is a popular spot for squatters. The state fire marshal's office is investigating what caused the blaze
