The Portsmouth High School Principal said the first school activity involving random breath test was a huge success. Seventy-one students took the test and all came back negative…

The Principal said of the 715 kids at the dance all were happy to cooperate with the new policy.

On the way in to the dance students choose a golf ball from a bag… if it was a red ball the student was asked to take the random test… Those kids were then entered into a drawing to win gift certificates to area restaurants.

The school committee voted last week to allow random breath tests at school dances.
