Rhode Island's three state colleges are requesting $19.4 million over the budget for services for the schools.

The request is made for 2015 and it is strictly for maintenance services, faculty will not receive a pay increase and tuition will not be raise.

The Higher Education's chief financial officer Susan LaPanne says that the budget increase is asked for because of costs that the colleges have little to no power over.

Costs such as insurance premiums, building maintenance, utilities, benefit rate increases, and lab supplies.

If the Board of Education approves the budget increase this Monday, this will be the second year in a row that tuition and fees will not increase.
