Telling Survey Results Released on HealthcareDIY.com
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- HealthcareDIY, LLC announced today that it has published detailed findings from its "HealthcareDIY 2013" survey on its newly launched website http://HealthcareDIY.com. This in-depth survey covered a broad array of health and lifestyle topics, and was taken by over 2,000 respondents.
"We wanted to dig deep with this survey to uncover some real-life underlying trends," said Jane Sarasohn-Kahn, MA, MHSA, Co-Founder of HealthcareDIY. "What we have discovered is an undeniable relationship between how well people sleep, how regularly they save money, how satisfied they are with their love lives, how often they cook at home, and their overall perceptions of health."
For example, people who say they don't get enough sleep rate their health much lower than those who are good sleepers. People who report cooking at home 5-7 days a week feel healthier and happy and more effectively manage their weight than those who cook at home less often.
As far as money goes: you don't need to be a Rockefeller or Gates to achieve better health. But people who regularly save money say they're in better health and are more ready to tackle the day than people who don't put money away on a regular basis. Furthermore, whole health includes a healthy sex life, so it's no surprise that people who are happy with their sex lives rate their health status much higher than people who are unhappy with their intimate lives.
These are just a few examples of the survey findings; a detailed overview can be found at http://healthcareDIY.com/health-america-2013/
Welcome to HealthcareDIY
HealthcareDIY was created to help consumers navigate their way through the constantly changing - and sometimes overwhelming - healthcare system. We believe that the one constant in your health, every day, is you yourself; and only you can truly take charge by living well, eating right, shopping smarter and using technology to better manage your health on a daily basis.
"People need to realize that health is everywhere, and we all make decisions that impact our health and health care many times a day," said Sarasohn-Kahn. "And if the last week has taught us anything, it is that we the people need to take control of our own health. No one is going to do it for us."
The new website HealthcareDIY.com is designed to help people better understand and manage their own approach to healthcare with hundreds of pages of content, daily blogs from experts, and the opportunity to connect and share with others on the site as well as on our Facebook page and on Twitter @HCDIY.
The HealthcareDIY 2013 study was solely funded by HealthcareDIY, LLC and was conducted over the Internet from May through August of 2013. 2,496 people, 2,149 of whom met the criteria (over 18 and living in the US or being a US citizen living abroad), started the study and 1,684 people completed the survey for a completion rate of 78%. On average, respondents answered 110 questions.
In the coming months, HealthcareDIY will continue to analyze this rich data set and will publish further results on HealthcareDIY.com.
