The Swansea Fire Department believes vandalism is the cause of a gas leak that happened early this morning at 162 Wilber Avenue.

They believe vandals were removing copper pipe out of the basement and accidentally cut a gas line. The fire department evacuated the surrounding houses and closed the road while they ventilated the home and repaired the leak.

Gas levels were at 3% in the basement, 4% is described as an explosive level. A report was filed with Swansea Police.
