After being canceled earlier this year due to federal budget cuts, the Quonset Air Show will hopefully return in 2014.
Organizers for the event hope to change the policy in the Pentagon toward "community outreach activities."
The policy enforced by the Defense Department canceled all community outreach activities, the Quonset Air Show falls into the category of community outreach activities.
Both of the military flight demonstration teams, the Navy's Blue Angels and Air Force's Thunderbirds, are a big part of the usual entertainment at the show.
A spokesperson for the Rhode Island National Guard stated that there are plans ongoing as if the show is still going to happen.
On Friday, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel stated that all of the activities will not be canceled.
