Cheaters suspension not accepted by many

After voluntarily closing in August due to a dancer being arrested for prostitution, the Providence strip club Cheaters has been suspended its license for 45 days and fined $5,000.

But is that just a smack on the wrist?

A Providence councilman believes that the Board of Licenses should reassess their decision on not revoking the club's license for good.

Along with allowing prostitution, Cheaters hired a 14-year-old girl as a dancer.

The club claims that the girl presented management with a fraudulent ID.

Majority Leader Seth Yurdin stated in a letter to the board that he is distraught about the decision to not close the club down.

Board Chairman Andrew Annaldo stated that the 45-day suspension and fine would be a strong enough message for the club to avoid future violations.

Steven Par, Public Safety Commissioner, wanted to retract the club's license for good.
