Wrong-way driver later causes 4-car crash

A car going the wrong way on 95 later causes a four-vehicle crash on 195 Friday night.

Around 10:30 Friday night State Police received several calls about a gray Honda Accord going north on 95 South in Providence. Just minutes later, a four-vehicle head-on crash was reported on 195.

On-scene, police noticed that the car that caused the crash was the gray Honda driven by Lindsay Roberts, 28, of New Bedford.

Roberts was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and was charged with driving under the influence of liquor and/or drugs.

Three other people in that crash were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Around 3:30 Saturday morning, State Police received another string of similar calls about a gray Ford Explorer going the wrong way on 95 North in Providence.

Troopers stopped Casandra Royce, 24, of Providence. After a breathalyzer test, Royce was arrested for driving under the influence of liquor and/or drugs with a blood alcohol content greater than 0.15%.
