This home video of the inferno was shot by an eyewitness, who emailed it to ABC6 News.
Once the flames cleared, you could see where the right front of the building was blown away from the explosion.
People who live right next door say it was very frightening.
"I was inside my house. I felt the ground shake, so I ran outside. The parts of the house – the first and second floor was cut off. And it was all laying out in the streets. And there was little fires," said witness Helder Fortes.
"I was just getting ready to leave and we both heard it, so we both went outside. That's it." Brianna Jonfelix.
Debris from the blast was scattered everywhere.
The huge plume of smoke could be seen for miles.
ABC6 News Reporter, "This firefight got so intense that numerous surrounding departments were called into help."
Crews from North Providence, Lincoln, Central Falls and Providence were among those assisting Pawtucket.
Numerous neighborhood children had no school today and were among those counting their blessings.
"I was scared. I was just in the house and it started like shaking. And after that I looked out the window and there was glass and a fire right next to our house," said neighbor Joanna Ortega.
Reporter question: "Your house is where? "The one next to it," Ortega added.
Some nearby homes and apartments were evacuated, until the all–clear was given.
