Brazen copper thieves in Massachusetts are going to great lengths to rip off homes.  Mansfield police are warning homeowners that thieves are getting into empty homes or ones that are up for sale during the day and ripping out the copper piping.

It's happened to several homes in just the past week. Police tell us the thieves then sell the copper at scrap yards, for three bucks a pound. "They aren't gingery removing or breaking it down carefully, they are going in ripping the things out by hand and in some cases not even bothering to cut it, " says Detective Michael Ellsworth of the Mansfield Police Department

Police in Attleboro, North Attleboro, Norton and Foxboro are also seeing a spike in copper piping thefts.
