EAST GREENWICH, RI- RIPTA is getting involved with feeding families this holiday season by stuffing one of their busses full of food!

Outside Panera Bread in East Greenwich, the RIPTA bus collected its first donation for this month–long event.

Every Saturday the bus will be at a new Panera Bread location, trying to stuff that bus with canned and boxed goods.

RIPTA is also giving away t–shirts and a chance to win a $500 gift card.

"Towards the end of the month, we're hoping that we can hopefully feed a ton of families and a ton of people, give back and just basically bring some joy to some people's lives and that's what it basically comes down to is just helping people out and the people in need," said RIPTA representative, Dan Bannister.

The food will be handed out to those in need through the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Last year, RIPTA collected more than seven thousand pounds of food.
