Rhode Island State Police arrested a coach and organizer for a local basketball program for possessing child pornography.

The Computer Crimes Unit/ICAC Task Force began investigating claims Friday when a social worker working with Jason Elliott, 41, was concerned about his behavior.

Investigators searched his Pawtucket home and seized digital media containing child porn.

Elliott was held overnight and arraigned on Saturday. Bail was set at $50,000 with surety and special conditions including no contact with minors or access to Internet.

Elliott did not post bail and was taken to the ACI

A re-arraignment is scheduled for Monday in Sixth Division District Court.

Elliott is a coach and organizer for the Rhode Island Hawks AAU Basketball Program, which sponsors programs for boys grades 5-12.

Anyone with information that would assist with this investigation should call the Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Unit/ICAC Task Force at (401) 444-1710.

If convicted, the penalty for Possession of Child Pornography is a fine of no more than $5,000 or imprisonment not more than 5 years, or both.
