22-year-old Moses Acloque once a standout football player for St. Anselm University in New Hampshire stood before a Wrentham District Court judge, turning in his football jersey for a blue prison shirt and handcuffs.
He's charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Prosecutors say Acloque was behind the wheel of his white pickup truck Monday night when he ran down two people in the parking lot of the Arbor Inn Motel, dragging 58–year–old Kanchanben Patel more than 3 miles to her death.
Prosecutors say Acloque fled the motel after being confronted by employees for not paying for his room. That's when police say the 22 year old Norwood resident jumped in his car, peeled out of the parking lot and ran down the couple.
But his lawyer is painting a much different story. He says his client was at the motel watching the patriots game with friends and was never living there. He says Acloque was then jumped by several employees, forcing him to pay up.
