La Salette Shrine will shine brighter this year. The Shrine, known for it's holiday light display, is adding more than 100,000 new lights and converting old lights to LED.
Brother David Eubank said the process of converting the lights is just about finished. All of the land lights have been converted but the shrine says the lights atop the trees have not because they are very difficult to get at. "Those lights have been there for sixty years," said Eubank.
This year marks the sixtieth anniversary at the shrine. For that reason, there is a special display in the front of the shrine near the entrance that features Christmas lights synchronized with Christmas music. The new display is about 20 minutes long and added 100,000 Christmas lights. The show will repeat itself every hour. The Christmas display will officially open on Thanksgiving and run through January 5.
