One of Massachusetts' medical marijuana dispensaries could be coming to Fall River.
Herbal Care Center, Inc. applied to buy 4 acres of land at the South Coast Life Science & Technology Park, where it would construct a 35,000 square foot facility.
There, the company would conduct medical marijuana research and development, along with growing and selling the product.
If the application is approved by the Department of Public Health, the company could start building soon afterwards. The decision is expected by early February.
This would mean 45 jobs initially, but the company plans to expand to up to 200,000 square feet, potentially adding another 100 or so jobs.
The Department of Public Health received 100 such applications on Thursday. After review, DPH could award any amount of licenses throughout the state, with a maximum of 35.
