NEW BEDFORD, MA- On Saturday around 11:30, Winsdor Street in New Bedford was lit up by police lights.
Witnesses tell Abc 6 that 31-year-old Sharone Stafford was found lying in the street, shot at least once.
According to witnesses, Stafford was shot in front of a home while he was inside his car. He then drove down the street, where another witness says Stafford crashed into a parked car.
After crashing, Stafford was somehow able to get out his car. He then collapsed on the street.
One mother, who was home during the shooting says she initially thought it was just a car accident. She was shocked to find out today, that someone had been shot and killed in her neighborhood
"You know, this has always been a quiet area so now hearing this, you know, you know, gets me concerned you know with my daughter," said the neighbor.
Stafford was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The district attorney's office is investigating. So far, they have not confirmed if a suspect has been identified.
