The staff member at a Providence Elementary School who released a girl to an unauthorized relative, has been fired. The 10–year–old girl was picked up early from Asa Messer Elementary by 46–year–old Bo Kang in early November. Kang was known to staff and said the girl had an appointment. The girl was sexually assaulted while in his care.

The Providence School department says it has concluded its investigation and hearing process. The employee went against school policy but allowing the girl to go home with Kang, who is not on the emergency contact list. The employees name will not be released.

Kang has been charged with sexual assault.
