Tonight, Mayor Angel Taveras will help kick off the City of Providence's Annual Christmas Tree Lighting festivities.

It all begins at 6:00 at the Bank of America Skating Center when the tree will be lit and various groups will perform, including the RPM Voices of Rhode Island, the chorus from the Lillian Feinstein at Sackett Street Elementary School, and the Brown University Skating Band.

There will also be a figure skating demonstration by regional award-winning skaters.

Public skating will resume afterwards...with a special appearance by Santa.

Providence's own "Dancing Cop" Tony LePore will also be there to show off his traffic-directing moves.

This year's skating rink tree was donated by Doug and Jean Barnes of North Providence.
