No charges will be filed against the driver of a car that struck and killed a woman in Warwick.

On December 4, just before 5:30 pm, 49-year-old Juanita Jefferis of Bristol was crossing Warwick Avenue when she was struck by a car. She later died at the hospital.

Upon further investigation, police determined that Jefferis was not in a marked cross walk and there is no traffic signal at that location. Speed, driving under the influence, mechanical issues, and distracted driving were all ruled out as possible causes of the crash.

The investigation concluded that there was no wrong doing by the driver, 21-year-old Raymond Joutras of Warwick, and no charges will be filed in this case.
