A new exhibit in Providence City Hall is honoring the contributions of the state's African immigrants and residents.
The exhibit features works by Rhode Island artist Munir Mohammed, a native of Ghana who moved to the U.S. in 1988.
The display highlights the effect Africans and African organizations have had on the state's culture, economy and civic life.
Rhode Island is home to a large community of residents from Liberia and Cape Verde, along with smaller groups from several other African nations.
