A suspect in a New Bedford carjacking and kidnapping was arrested after the victim was able to identify him through an old yearbook photo.

37-year-old Francisco Sanchez was taken into custody Saturday at 11 a.m. after leaving St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. The reason why Sanchez was in the hospital is unknown.

Sanchez is accused of approaching a woman in a New Bedford shopping center, asking if she recognized him and then making her drive to a location at knife point. He then allegedly took her purse and she ran from the vehicle.

The victim said she recognized the suspect from high school and located his image in an old high school year book.

Sanchez will appear in New Bedford District court this morning to answer to kidnapping, carjacking and armed robbery charges.
