The off duty firefighter deemed a hero for his quick actions after a Pawtucket home explosion was honored in a ceremony Thursday morning. Providence firefighter Jermaine Woods was presented with the Liberty Mutual Firemark award.

On November 5th Woods was visiting with his father in Pawtucket when he heard an explosion come from the home across the street on Mineral Spring Avenue. Woods immediately raced to the scene and helped a couple and their baby.

"It's very overwhelming. Very overwhelming. I'm speechless. I'm just thankful for all the guys I work with, it's a great department. I just feel very fortunate," said a humble Woods.

Woods has been a Providence firefighter since 1991. Throughout his career, he also received a commendable action ribbon and 4 unit citation ribbons
