First it was Black Friday, then cyber Monday, and now here comes Super Saturday. The holiday shopping window is quickly closing and all those stragglers are trying to play catch up.
"I did have a good head start, but there are always those last minute things that you forget about— stocking stuffers and stuff, so here I am," said Elizabeth Deschenes of Barrington."
The four day stretch before Christmas accounts for some of the busiest shopping days of the year. Many shopping centers are extending their hours. The Providence Place Mall is opening an hour early and closing an hour later.
"A couple of gift certificates and I'm done," said Justin Erickson who was attempting to get through his entire shipping list in a single trip.
It turns out it may actually pay to procrastinate. In-store sales are down slightly this year, so retailers are pulling out all the stops to get last minute shoppers into their stores. They are offering up deals and discounts up to 50% off.
"I was surprised. I wasn't expecting them, and I've done a lot of shopping that maybe I shouldn't be doing right now. For me," Deschenes said jokingly.
