Police are looking for the driver who took off after hitting a pedestrian crossing Front Street in Lincoln Saturday night.

A 23-year-old female and a male friend were crossing Front St. near Franklin St. around 9:50 p.m. when she was hit by a car.

The two were walking in a marked crosswalk.

The male friend witnessed the accident and described the vehicle as a light-colored, newer sedan, possible a Hyundai or Toyota. The suspect was heading east on Front St. and continued in the same direction after hitting the victim. The car may have damage to the front light assembly.

Investigators are working on getting surveillance footage from nearby businesses and following up with other witnesses.

Meanwhile, the female victim is in stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital with significant injuries.

Anyone with information is urged to call Lincoln Police at 401-333-1111.
