Changes coming for GED test-takers in the New Year

By Alana Cerrone

Those looking to take the GED Test after the New Year will see some changes.

The 2002 Series GED Test expires the last day of 2013 and the next-generation test will be launched on the 1st of the new year.

Any incomplete scores will also expire – meaning test-takers who passed only some of the test will have to start over.

One of the significant changes for test-takers is pricing – the test will now cost $120 as compared to $55 for the 2002 Series pencil-and-paper test.

Also, the test will only be delivered electronically, with no written option.

Content-wise, the new test will be aligned with Common Core standards and other prevailing state standards.
