People all over Southern New England celebrated the New Year Tuesday night.
Family friendly fun kicked off early in New Bedford for First Night. There was plenty to do from kids entertainment to ice carving.
"I came here to have a great time right here with my son," said Maria Coe.
"I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait until 2014 comes, "said Elyjay Coe.
Families were also out in full force in downtown Providence at the ice skating rink.
"The kids are having a good time. It's a good night out in Providence," said Edelta Lafrate, Johnston.
"So excited, it's gonna be awesome," said Amber Worthen.
It was a black tie affair at the Dorrance in downtown Providence.
People danced into the New Year along the yellow brick road for "The Wizard of OZ" theme gala.
Each person out enjoying the night had some insights into 2014.
"Work hard on your goals, focus on what you want to do and don't worry about what other people think," said Worthen.
"Enjoy what you have and enjoy the moments, that's what I say, Happy New Year," said Annette Maggiacomo, Cranston.
Happy New Year and welcome to 2014.
