The Rehoboth and Taunton Police Departments are warning individuals about an automated telephone scam from a group claiming to a local bank.

The automated message claims that individuals credit or debit cards are locked and instructs individuals to unlock their cards by entering their account numbers.

In Rehoboth two calls were placed on Sunday, January 5. The message claimed it was from Bristol County Savings Bank.

Investigators tracked the phone numbers and found they had both been used in similar nationwide scams.

Taunton Police say they have received several calls and messages reporting a similar scam.
