Pot holes are popping up all around southern New England already this year.

"We've had a lot of rain in between the snow events that usually leads to a fair number ... significant number of pot holes," said Joe Baker, RIDOT.

RIDOT is out in full force trying to get ahead of any problems.

"Our crews are out there constantly in the winter season trying to repair pot holes.  We have done a couple of Saturdays if that means coming in after storms to get those repairs done before we see any major issues," said Baker.

If your vehicle has suffered damaged due to a pothole, you can file a claim with the RI Department of transportation.

There are a series of steps to follow and according to RIDOT claims must be made within seven days of striking a pothole, payments will be made no later than 45-days after the claim is approved.
