The father of a Woonsocket boy is pleading for his sons safe return. 6-year-old Daniel Britt was last seen January 8th. He is believed to be with his mother Andria Britt. Police believe Britt may be taking the boy to Washington State, where she has family. Police say this is in violation of an order from Rhode Island's family court.
"He loves legos, he loves star wars, he's just a good six year old boy and I just want him home If anybody can help, if anybody sees him please call the police and take him I don't care," said Sean Britt in a desperate plea to find his son.
Sean Britt last saw his 6–year–old son Daniel on January 3rd when he dropped him off for his visit with his mother Andria.
"When he goes to his mom's I tell him over and over and over again that I'll see him soon, I love him, and I always love him, and I always tell him because of the things she says whatever mom says, just know I love you," Britt explained.
But Britt wouldn't see his son soon.
"I miss him a lot, this is a parents worst nightmare, parents worst nightmare," Britt said.
Britt's relationship with his ex–wife is nothing short of rocky. Their only communication deals with their son Daniel. Sean says he last heard from Andria on Monday, January 6th. She called to say Daniel was sick and wouldn't be going to school. On Tuesday, the elementary school called to say Daniel never showed up. Wednesday was their scheduled custody hearing, his ex-wife was a no show.
'"I knew something was wrong," Britt said.
Since then, Britt has made countless flyers, hanging them throughout the city, driving around aimlessly, hoping to see his boy.
His girlfriend Candy Hazard says the past week has been brutal.
"He gets up at night crying, pacing, I have to grab him put him back to bed," she said.
Britt says his ex–wife has struggled with her mental health and fears the worst.
"That she would hurt Daniel and herself. Please help me bring him home, because it's where he belongs," asked Britt.
No amber alert has been issued. State police say there has to be an abduction and the child has to be in imminent danger. There is a warrant out for Andrea Britt's arrest. Because she didn't show for her court appearance, she no longer has custody of Daniel.
Sean Britt is pushing for an amber alert and is going to court Wednesday to try to get one. He hopes to reveal court documents from his ex-wife's past to prove his son is in fact in imminent danger.
Andria Britt drives a red Ford Fiesta with Rhode Island plates 942-649. The mother has blonde hair and blue eyes. She's 5'6" and weighs between 110-120 lbs.
Daniel has brown hair and blue eyes. He is 4'3" and weighs between 50-55 lbs.
