Three Providence city council members have announced their endorsements for Gina Raimondo for Governor.

Councilwoman Sabina Matos, councilman Luis Aponte, and councilman Davian Sanchez endorsed Raimondo on Wednesday over Providence Angel Taveras.

"Gina always fights for working families," said Sabina Matos. "As Treasurer, she had the courage to take on the predatory payday loan industry. She will fight to improve education, fix our roads and bridges and create quality jobs. "

In addition, Providence Representatives Grace Diaz and Anastasia Williams who both represent portions of Providence also threw their support behind Raimondo.

"Like so many Rhode Islanders, Gina's family lived the immigrant experience. From Italy or the Dominican Republic, our families came here to build a better life," said Diaz. "I know Gina's number one priority will be rebuilding a vibrant economy that leaves no Rhode Islander behind and I am proud to be endorsing her today."
