A farm in South County is being investigated for animal cruelty and neglect after three pigs and a cow were found dead on the property.

Dr. E.J. Finocchio of the Rhode Island Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said that he believes the animals "froze to death due to inadequate shelter during the weather last week."

One pig and two cows were recovered from the farm. The cows are currently being housed and rehabilitated at the University of Rhode Island and the pig, named Stanley, is at the RISPCA.

Finocchio said the owner of the animals is a person of interest in the case and they believe there may be more animals on the farm.
