RIPTA's annual winter service changes officially go into effect Saturday.

These major changes affect more than 2 dozen bus and trolley routes throughout Rhode Island and help to improve frequency on some key corridor routes.

Changes include: direct service from Providence to Woonsocket on Route 54, discontinued serviced on Route 79 on Columbus Avenue, and improved frequency on Routes 17 (Dyer/Pocasset), 19 (Plainfield/Westminster), and 20 (Elmwood Ave./T. F. Green Airport).

Passengers can call 401-781-9400, or visit www.ripta.com, for a complete list of changes, new schedules, and more information.
