A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for RI and much of SE MA from 1pm this afternoon until 1 PM tomorrow afternoon. A Blizzard Watch has been issued for the SE MA coastline, the Cape and the Islands starting tomorrow afternoon and lasting through Wednesday afternoon.
Snow will arrive late this afternoon/early evening. It will be very cold and very dry so the snow will be light and fluffy but will come down at a fast rate. Low visibility can be expected with blowing and drifting snow. Winds will be gusting up to 40MPH inland and potentially up to 50MPH for coastal areas. Snow will end Wednesday morning for RI, Wednesday afternoon for coastal MA.
As for accumulations, much of inland RI will pick up anywhere from 5-9". Coastal RI and SE MA is looking at 6-10" with isolated higher amounts for areas on the Cape.
Bitter cold weather will be around through the end of the week.
