PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) A Cranston man who traded the drug Xanax for guns has been sentenced to more than four years in federal prison.

The U.S. attorney's office said Monday 56-year-old Donald Robbio got four years and two months for trading the drug for a 9-millimeter pistol and a .380 caliber handgun.

Robbio pleaded guilty in September to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Prosecutors say he had been convicted on state felony assault, firearm and manslaughter charges.

Authorities say Robbio was arrested last June after exchanging a bag containing 140 pills used for panic attacks with an undercover agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for the weapons.

Robbio was also ordered to serve three years supervised release after his prison term.
