National Grid is once again making its customers aware of a payment scam going on in the New England area.

They say the scammers call customers claiming to be from National Grid and threaten customers with immediate service shut-off unless they provide credit card or bank account numbers.

The calls originated from a 617 area code phone number and when the number is called, the person answering identifies them self as being from National Grid.

National Grid has warned customers about scams like these in the past and is reminding customers that they never demand direct payment over the telephone.

Customers who have received calls demanding immediate payment and are asked for bank account information should contact National Grid immediately.
