CRANSTON - Caught on camera: two men on Hillwood Street in Cranston, wearing purple hoodies and sweats, moments before police say they were breaking and entering into a home, and making off with electronics, jewelry, and designer sneakers.
Their choice of outfits were not the most subtle.
"I'm not sure I can explain why they would wear something like that, but I can assure you we're not amused by the fact that they're wearing matching clothing and perpetrating an act such as that," said Major Robert Ryan of the Cranston PD.
Cranston police are investigating the possibility that these two have struck elsewhere, following leads in other, nearby cities.
"We often reach out to neighboring agencies to see if they've had crimes of a similar nature... in doing that we can help one another and not only solve crimes in our community but in their community as well," said Major Ryan.
In the hillwood street community, Meng Taing - who lives next door to the house that was robbed, admits that the neighborhood used to have less crime, but that doesn't change his mind about living there.
"Nowadays we hear a lot about breaking in and things like that but what can we do? Just take a chance," he said.
Taing doesn't plan on stepping up security around his home but he hopes the police will take extra precautions to keep the neighborhood safe.
"Hopefully the police will patrol more often here," he said.
Cranston police are looking for the public's help in identifying the men, if you have any information contact Det. John Cardone at 401-942-2211 ext. 5047.
