The state's top educator says that she's encouraged by what she sees going on in classrooms across the state.
Commissioner Deborah Gist gave her annual state of education address Thursday afternoon.
Gist says educators are doing a good job incorporating technology into their classroom routines, which is boosting student performance and helping better prepare graduates for future careers. She says that many schools across the state have come a long way in just a year.
"I think our biggest accomplishment other than the fact we have all come together to focus on education, is the fact we are making progress. We are seeing gains in the results we are getting from our schools" says Gist.
The state's graduation rates will be released Friday morning along with results from last fall's student assessment tests
