Rhode Island State Police lost an
important part of their force this past week.
"Bear", a 12-year old German
Shepherd, was a 9-year veteran of the K-9 Unit before passing away unexpectedly
Bear was a search and rescue canine,
responding to numerous missing person searches over the years, and successfully
locating most of them.
He and Acting Corporal Scott
Carlsten also helped discover human remains that were buried 14 feet
underground for over 30 years.
Plus, Bear attended public outreach
events to educate the public.
He will be greatly missed and
honored for a remarkable career.
