A Lakeville man was arrested during the height of this weekend's snow storm, after police say he attacked a plow driver with a snow shovel. That plow driver is also the man's neighbor. It turns out, he wasn't happy with the way his property was plowed.

In the quiet, rural community of Churchill Shores in Lakeville, neighbors plow each others driveways and roads.

"Everybody kind of helps one another, come time to snow blow and plow, it's all a community effort," said Churchill Shores resident Mike Reilly.

Reilly says there isn't a whole lot of room to put all the snow on the neighborhood's narrow roads, which is why he says the quarrel between neighbors may have snowballed Saturday night.

Reilly said, "He didn't like the way it was piled up in his yard and like I said, there's no place to put it, so they just kind of got out of hand."

Police responded to 28 Churchill Road for a dispute. When they got there, they arrested 40–year–old Douglas Haskell. Haskell is accused of hitting his neighbor, and plow driver, in the head with a snow shovel.

The victim, in his 60's, didn't want to be identified and refused to be transported to the hospital.

"The snow gets a little fed up but were all dealing with that, there's no reason for that, it's horrid," said Reilly.

The president of the Neighborhood Association, Marc DuBois, tells us this isn't the first time Haskell has had a run in with police.

DuBois said, "They're down there towards that address quite a few times, so I'm not totally surprised."

Haskell was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and released on bail. He's scheduled to be arraigned in Wareham district court Tuesday.

"People get hot heated this time of year, and like I said it was just way out of bounds," explained DuBois.
