WOONSOCKET, RI- Wearing maroon and white, crowds filled Woonsocket High School for a pep rally–theme celebration of life for coach, George Nasuti.

"So, the legacy that my brother is leaving, a name in this town is just amazing and I'm proud of my brother. And to see these people turn out is above anything we thought," said George's brother, Ron Nasuti.

Trish L'Esperance said, "I think it's just overwhelming that, to see all these people come out and just to show love that they had for him. It's absolutely amazing."

The athletic director, teacher, and former principal's shocking death after being in a coma for a few days, still haunts students and staff members who have the utmost respect for the man whose motto: Give respect, Get respect will forever echo in this community.

When the athletic department was in jeopardy of losing its programs, Nasuti helped raise funds to keep the programs running.

Football captain, D'Andre Thomas said, "He just did so much for this community; just a great man. Woonsocket will not be the same without him and I'm grateful to have played, to have met such a great man.

Nasuti taught his students not only lessons on the field or in school, but life lessons that many believe are still being taught, although he's gone.

"I think he would want us to use this to try to become closer as a team and use it as motivation for the next season," said Andrew Gaulin.
