Free Shred-a-thons across Rhode Island

In an effort to help consumers ward off identity theft, Attorney General Peter Kilmartin along with Doc Shredding Corp and the Rhode Island Community Food Bank are kicking off a week of free shred-a-thon across Rhode Island.

The Rhode Island Community Food Bank in asking the public to bring a non-perishable food item when they drop off their documents.

The event will take place starting Monday March 3rd through Saturday March 8th 

Consumers are allowed to drop off up to 2-banker boxes of material for shredding.

Tammy Miller Director of Consumer Protection says "There are criminals out there who have nothing better to do that to riffle through someone's trash getting personal information your name your address your banking information that they can use against you".
