Concern about a loss in state gaming revenue and how much the state pension reform settlement will cost local cities, is behind an effort to recall two Woonsocket City council members.
An affidavit filed on Wednesday with the board of canvassers is seeking to recall councilman Garrett Mancieri and councilwoman Melissa Murray.
Those behind the petition accuse them of not listening to taxpayers, and supporting programs the City cannot afford such as full day kindergarten.
The group needs 10 percent of registered voters to sign the petition before placing it on the ballot.
ABC 6 News reached out to Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli- Hunt and she states that this is distraction to the city of Woonsocket and it's unfair and seems to be targeted.
