State Police are posted outside the office of Speaker of the House Gordon Fox at the Rhode Island State House.

Jim Martin, spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's office in Rhode Island said, "The U.S. Attorney's Office, the FBI, the Rhode Island State Police and the Internal Revenue Service are engaged currently in a law enforcement action at the State House." It is unclear what they are investigating at this time.

Larry Berman, Spokesperson for Speaker Fox, said he does not know what is going on but he was asked by investigators to leave the office.

Several FBI agents were also at Fox's home and they left carrying boxes of paper work.

Fox was elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives in 1992 and was elected the Speaker of the House since 2010 after former House Speaker Bill Murphy stepped down.
