Homeless man rescued after refusing to come down from tree

Posted: Updated:

A homeless man climbed to the top of an estimated 100-foot tall tree in Rehoboth and refused to come down for hours on Friday.

Police think the man was drunk and say he was combative to rescue attempts.

After about four hours officials were finally able to convince him to come down.

"You know we assured him that nobody was going to hurt him and he decided that he was going to come down. We were able to get him into the bucket safely, they brought it down and thankfully no one was hurt," said Lt. James Trombetta with the Rehoboth Police Dept.

Police say they are familiar with the man.

He could face charges for Friday's incident.
